Notes:
Too active to be found in nature. Most of it is found combined with oxygen.
Its principal ores are phosphorite and apatite. White phosphorus is waxy,
soft, and translucent which becomes brittle at 5.5 °C. It's crystalline and
insoluble in water. It's extremely poisonous and reactive with oxygen. Red
phosphorus is formed when white phosphorus is heated at 250 °C in the absence
of air. It is not poisonous and not as reactive with oxygen as white
phosphorus. Its main use is in the manufacture of matches. Other uses are for
the manufacture of rat poisons, grenades, and bombs.
